It provides comprehensive, evidence-based management of heart diseases—from emergency treatment to advanced diagnostics and long-term follow-up—delivered by a dedicated team of cardiologists, nurses, and allied health professionals.

Our Team's Expertise

Dr. Michael Chin
Head of Department

Dr. Michael Chin is a highly trained cardiologist specialising in interventional cardiology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Guyana in 2001, completed his DM in Internal Medicine at the University of the West Indies, and later pursued cardiology residency and interventional fellowship training at the University of Calgary. Since returning to Guyana in 2020, he has served as a Consultant Cardiologist at GPHC, advancing cardiac care and clinical excellence. 

The cardiology department has several cardiologists supported by several allied health care professionals and nurses who work as a cohesive team to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care with emphasis on providing excellent customer service and compassionate care.

    • Management of acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, and arrhythmias

    • Assist cardiologist with Exercise stress testing
    • Preparation and monitoring of patients during stress procedures

    • Specialised management of chronic and acute heart failure patients
    • Patient education on medication adherence, lifestyle modification, and symptom monitoring
    • Optimisation of heart failure therapy under cardiologist guidance
    • Monitoring of fluid status, vital signs, and clinical progression
