GPHC Honors Nurses for Outstanding Service During International Nurses Day Celebration

In observance of Nursing Week and in celebration of International Nurses Day, the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation hosted a heartfelt Appreciation and Award Ceremony to celebrate the outstanding contributions of its nursing staff.

The occasion brought together nurses from across the institution in a spirit of gratitude and reflection, honoring the compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication they continue to demonstrate in the delivery of patient care, 58 nurses of which were awarded for their services among different categories.
Nurses remain at the heart of the healthcare system, serving not only as caregivers, but also as advocates, educators, and sources of comfort for patients and families during some of life’s most challenging moments. Through long hours, demanding circumstances, and countless sacrifices, they continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and empathy, making a lasting impact on the lives of those they serve every day.

In attendance was the Honourable Dr Frank Anthony, Minister of Health, who expressed his appreciation for our nurses; Chief Executive Officer of GPHC Mr Robbie Rambarran, along with other hospital officials and healthcare leaders, all of whom joined in expressing appreciation for the vital role nurses play within the healthcare system.

The ceremony was a meaningful expression of appreciation for the selfless commitment of GPHC’s nurses and their invaluable role in advancing healthcare in Guyana. As the institution celebrated International Nurses Day, it also expressed its gratitude and support for the individuals whose dedication and compassion continue to inspire excellence throughout the healthcare sector.
